In district cooling systems, the pipe size and system flow rate are relatively large, and the electric control valves commonly used in the traditional HVAC field cannot meet the regulation requirements due to their small diameter. To solve this problem, the use of butterfly valves as regulating valves is proposed. This paper describes the use position and function of large caliber control valves in district cooling systems, presents the adjustment characteristics and selection calculation method of butterfly valves. Aiming at the problem that the flow regulation range of district cooling system is large and a single butterfly valve cannot meet the adjustment requirements of all working conditions, a solution through parallel butterfly valves is proposed and a theoretical analysis is carried out, and the part-range control method of the valves is presented. Combined with an actual engineering, the selection method of large caliber butterfly valves is presented.
